Working backwards
You'd need about , as long as your venue and budget could cope if more people say yes.
How the estimate works
Your expected headcount is each group's invited count multiplied by its attendance rate, added together. The "likely range" treats each invitation as an independent yes-or-no and shows roughly where 90% of outcomes would fall, which is why big lists are more predictable than small ones. Real RSVPs are less independent than that (families and friend groups tend to decide together), so treat the range as a guide, not a guarantee.
The default rates follow common planner rules of thumb: The Knot's editors suggest starting from about 20% of guests declining and adjusting for your situation, and planners commonly quote attendance of 70 to 80% for a regular wedding but only 50 to 60% for destination weddings. The full reasoning is in our guide to how many wedding guests to invite.
The one rule that matters
Invite no more people than your venue and budget could handle if everyone said yes. The calculator warns you when your invited list is over your venue capacity.

Frequently asked questions
What percentage of wedding guests decline?
About 20% is a common rule of thumb, typically 10 to 20% for local weddings and more for out-of-town and destination guests.
How many people should I invite for 100 guests?
Around 110 to 120 for a mostly local list, but only if your venue and budget could handle everyone saying yes.
Does the calculator save my list?
No. It runs entirely in your browser and stores nothing.
